Rahul Kumar of Greenville is the 2021 NJTL Arthur Ashe Essay Contest Winner from Mississippi!
The Arthur Ashe Essay contest is open to all NJTL participants, and this year’s essay theme revolved around Tennis History Maker, Robert Ryland and the question posed was: "What facts about his story inspire you to break boundaries and excel in school, sports, and to follow your dreams? What are your possibilities?”
Rahul is a senior at Washington School and has been playing tennis for 12 years. "My favorite part about tennis is that there is always something that I can improve and learn about. There is never a time that I feel like I know everything about a shot, stroke, or strategy in tennis." His favorite subject in school is math because he has been surrounded by engineers and mathematicians his entire life. A future goal of his is to be a Mechanical engineer for Tesla.
