Jackson’s Devin Britton Plays Wimbledon

A remarkable achievement!

Devin Britton16-year old Devin Britton is back in the USA from London where he played in the Wimbledon Junior Doubles. He also played the Wimbledon Junior Singles Qualifying. We think this may be a first for Mississippi!

Devin began his road to Wimbledon by playing in a warm-up tournament at Roehampton. He defeated Silvio Dadic from Croatia 4-1, 4-2. The next round he took out Matthew James from Great Britain 4-2, 4-2. He then faced Rupesh Roy from India 4-1, 1-4, 10-4. In the Quarterfinals, he played Daniel Cox from Great Britain. A win would have given Devin a “Main Draw Special Exemption” into Wimbledon Juniors Singles. Devin fought hard but lost a close match 4-1, 4-5 (7), 6-10.

It didn’t end there. Devin got into the Wimbledon Junior Qualifying. In his first match he beat Nikita Zotov from Russia 6-1, 7-5. He lost the 2nd round to Dimitris Kleftados from Germany 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Kleftados ended up losing in the quarterfinals main draw to the eventual winner.

After 5 days of rain, Devin and partner Austin Krajioek played on the grass at Wimbledon. The won their first match against Hume from South Africa and Roy from India, 6-1, 3-6, 10-5. They lost in the Round of 16 to eventual Wimbledon Junior Singles winner Donald Young from Atlanta and Johnny Hamui from Florida.
